FURNACE PROJECT:

A few weeks ago, one of our members (Tim) contacted the “runner up” in a contest for a new furnace. The ball rolled, and people looked at her need and got to work. As it turned out, she didn’t actually need a new furnace. She simply needed the proper size ducts through which the furnace could channel the air. If the furnace cannot force enough air through pipes, it will overheat and shut down. Imagine crimping a water-pressurized garden hose. It’s a similar idea, but a furnace will shut down.

The pastor (Jim) of Faith Baptist Church in Napoleon happens to be an HVAC guy, so he donated his time and expertise and only charged for parts. Our house-church group picked up the tab, since the woman in need was a single mother on a single income.

Because we spent a lot of time laughing, the woman came downstairs to check on us. She said, “There’s usually not this much laughing while doing a project like this, so something must be going right.” We confirmed her suspicions, and reassured her that this is what happens amongst us when we get together. We laugh and have a good time…even while we work. Needless to say, the project went well, and we were in and out in a couple hours.
