We checked into what else we could do to help her around the house. We initially had grandiose plans to replace the shingles on her roof when we discovered there would be much more work involved (all the decking and facia was rotten and water damaged the wood). So we're contracting that done (since the roof is also a steep pitch), but we wanted to help her with some fixing up.
So Saturday, November 20th, we put our crew to work...replacing the stairs that and installing a railing for said staircase, cleaning TONS of yard clutter from a dying walnut tree, cleaning eaves trophs, cutting limbs from a tree overhanging the house, raking leaves "winterizing" her windows, etc. In the end, we moved 18 yard refuse bags and a full trailer of deadwood from her small city lot.
We even got all the kids (young and old, big and small) in on the action.
The second best part of the day was the arrival of PIZZA! The best part was the accomplishment.
It was a good day helping Miss Ruby.
We hope she was blessed.
We were.
