October 26, & 27th - Operation Jean. Jean is a wife of a soldier that has been serving in IRAQ for 16 months and she asked for help winterizing her home. ACTS 4:9 hung plastic on her windows (two person job), painted her basement, hung trim and framed in a couple of exterior doors. The local fire department came out and power washed and sealed her deck along with trimming up some trees. The perfect part of the story is that her husband was part of the 303rd that came home at midnight just a few nights ago! Now he can spend much needed time with a family that hasn’t seen him in over a year.

HABITAT ZANE:
October 13 & 14th - Habitat Zane. Zane was in a situation where he needed to be out of his current residence by October 15th. He had a new place but didn’t have the know-how or the help to make it livable. It was getting down to the wire and it was looking like his car was going to be his place to sleep until everything was complete. ACTS 4:9 spent the weekend helping him fix broken water pipes, hang insulation and replace lots of drywall. He now has some place warm and dry to lay his head each night.

FIRST NAZ FOOD PANTRY:
Each month ACTS 4:9 Church delivers food/personal items to First Church of the Nazarene Food Bank. We have been partnering with First Naz for about 3 months now. Last December they had about 60 families come through and when we started helping in September the number was at 100! On November 3rd they had 153 families come through for food help! With the local prison closing they only anticipate that number to grow. When talking to the 211 service they said the #2 request for help is for food (first being financial aid). THANK YOU to all those who sent a donation specifically for this cause. We have a volunteer who does all the shopping and delivering so if you would like to continue to give directly to this “service project” – send your donation to us and mark “Food Pantry” in the memo line (check made payable to ACTS 4:9 Church) and your dollars will be added to ours and go directly to purchase items for donation. This is a tax deductible transaction.
LOVING OUR SOLDIERS:
November 7th – Packing for a Cause: Brooklyn Kiwani’s. In November the Kiwani’s and ACTS 4:9 got together to pack and send individual care packages to about 150 soldiers. We packed donated personal supplies, microwave popcorn, salt and ketchup packets, pop tarts, comics, Christmas trees and letters of encouragement. In these boxes also went candy and beanie babies, which the soldiers hand out to the Iraqi children. I think it only took a little over an hour to pack all these boxes and we were on our way. Just think … one hour of my time to bless a handful of soldiers …..
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE HOUSE:
We Can Make a Difference House planned to give away 100 food baskets for Thanksgiving. Unbeknownst to us, she only had enough donations to put together only a fraction of the baskets. ACTS 4:9 showed up on her doorstep with a monetary donation days before the distribution, which allowed her to purchase enough food to fill all 100 baskets and purchase food to reserve for Christmas baskets. As people filled her living room for free baskets, she quickly went through all 100 in a manner of minutes. She started making more with the reserves she bought for Christmas, and God was awesome in providing the perfect amount of food for the exact number of families who showed. Wendy gave away 139 baskets of food this Thanksgiving!
